Medián conducted a survey for HVG about the support of political parties among Hungarian voters. The poll, which was completed last weekend, reveals that 46 percent of those who know which party they would choose would vote for Tisza, while only 37 percent would vote for Fidesz-KDNP. Based on this, Fidesz has barely managed to make up the difference from the end of last year, with the Tisza Party leading ahead of the governing party by 9 percentage points among the confident voters who plant to cast their ballot. In Medián's survey from November last year, the gap between the two parties was 11 percentage points in favour of Tisza.
According to the poll, "Tisza supporters are the most committed, 90 percent of them would definitely go to the polls if the election were this Sunday", while only 80 percent of Fidesz voters showed the same confidence. This means that even though Fidesz has recently introduced a whole range of measures, from tax exemptions for mothers of two and three to VAT refunds for pensioners and a ban on Pride, so far they have barely managed to make up for their disadvantage.
The survey also shows that 56 percent of respondents would welcome a change of government, while 35 percent would prefer the current government to stay. Among the small parties, according to Medián
- only Mi Hazánk currently meets the 5 percent threshold required to enter parliament;
- they are followed by MKKP, (The Two-Tailed-Dog Party) which stands at 4 percent among certain voters;
- DK would receive 3 percent of those certain to vote;
- and all other parties combined would have the vote of 4 percent of those who are certain cast a ballot, while 24 percent of those polled have no party preference.
