"This system presents itself as strong, but it's made of toilet paper"

Although the Hungarian Parliament's vote on the transparency bill was postponed, the demonstration planned for the day of the vote was held as scheduled, with Budapest's Kossuth Square filled to overflowing. Several well-known public figures spoke at the event, with the main organizer Róbert Puzsér saying that the national disaster of Hungary's annexation to the East must be prevented.

A brief explanation of a few of the terms referenced in the video are as follows:

  • NER – Nemzeti Együttműködés Rendszere, or in English: the System of National Cooperation. The term was coined by the Orbán government after their election victory in 2010 to refer to the changes in government they were about to introduce. By now, NER has become a word in its own right, and is used in colloquial Hungarian to refer to Fidesz' governing elite, complete with the politicians and the oligarchs profiting from the system.
  • Influencers' protest – a demonstration put together by Hungarian content creators in the wake of the clemency scandal in February 2024.
  • Father Bese – Father Bese was a young priest who was popular with the highest echelons of the government, until he was found to have also been a regular at gay parties at the same time.
