Arte: Why aren't Europeans having enough babies?

The birth rate across the EU is in decline, threatening a demographic crisis with stark repercussions for economies across Europe. A changing lifestyle, putting one's career first and infertility are only some of the varied reasons for this shift – despite some countries offering generous parental leave and support for families.

This programme is produced by the European platform ARTE and available in 10 languages through the European media partnership EMOVE Hub. The hub is coordinated by ARTE and includes Balkan Insight (BIRN), Sinopsis (BIRN Romania), El País (ES), Gazeta Wyborcza (PL), Internazionale (IT), Ir, (LV), Kathimerini (GR), Le Soir (BE) and Telex (HU).
